65mm burrs in the compact Mignon body
The XL fits 65mm flat burrs, the size used in Eureka's larger Atom grinders, into a Mignon body that is still only 120mm wide. Eureka's patented Diamond Inside process treats the burrs at −193°C to keep them sharp for longer, and the motor turns at 1,650rpm for 2.3–2.8g of coffee a second.

Steady doses and low retention, measured
In independent testing with the ZHAW university lab, Kaffeemacher measured a spread of just 0.27g across ten timed 18g doses and 3.1g of retention. Over six back-to-back shots the ground coffee averaged 34.4°C, and they found no meaningful shift in particle size as the grinder warmed up.

Two timed doses and a hands-free fork
Set two dose times on the touchscreen and fine-tune them with + and −, or grind continuously. The rubber-coated universal fork adjusts for height and holds any portafilter, bottomless included. Grind size is set by moving the lower burr, so Eureka says you can clean the burrs without losing your setting.

Quiet grinding and a tidy worktop
Eureka's Silent Technology uses anti-vibration mounting to keep noise down; Kaffeemacher measured 77.2dB, within the range they rate as quiet. The Mignon mat kit comes in the box: a washable silicone mat, a tamping station that takes any portafilter and a cleaning brush.

Eureka Mignon XL or Mignon Stark W: which should I choose?
Both use 65mm flat burrs in the compact Mignon body with a 300g hopper. The XL doses by time from its touchscreen, which keeps the price down; weigh on a separate scale if you want exact doses. The Stark W adds grind by weight to ±0.2g and a blind upper burr for lower retention. Choose the XL for value; choose the Stark W if you want exact doses without a scale.
Eureka Mignon XL or Mignon Specialita: which should I choose?
Both are timed, hopper-fed Mignons with a touchscreen, stepless dial and 300g hopper. The XL's 65mm burrs and more powerful motor grind faster, which suits busier households and back-to-back shots. The Specialita uses 55mm burrs, costs less and comes in far more finishes. Choose the XL for speed and bigger burrs; choose the Specialita for value and colour choice.
Can I use the Mignon XL for filter coffee or a cafetière?
It isn't the right choice if filter is most of what you brew. The XL is built and tuned for espresso, and independent testers at Kaffeemacher describe it as an espresso specialist. If you want pour-over, AeroPress or a cafetière as well as espresso, an all-purpose grinder such as the Fellow Opus 2 or Timemore Sculptor 078S will serve you better.
Does the Mignon XL grind by weight?
No. It doses by time: you set two dose times on the touchscreen and the motor stops when the time is up. That is consistent in practice, with Kaffeemacher measuring a spread of 0.27g across ten 18g doses, but beans and grind size affect the weight. Check doses on a scale, or choose the Mignon Stark W if you want each dose weighed for you.
Will the Mignon XL fit my portafilter?
Almost certainly. Eureka's universal fork is rubber-coated, adjusts for height and is designed to hold portafilters of any make and size, including bottomless ones, so you can grind hands-free. The tamping station in the included Mignon mat kit is also designed to take any portafilter.
Can I single-dose with the Mignon XL?
You can, but it isn't designed around it. The XL is hopper-fed, and Kaffeemacher measured 3.1g of retention, with at least 0.3g staying in the grinder even after a long grind-out. That is fine for a hopper grinder, but if you change beans for every shot, a dedicated single-dose grinder will suit your routine better.
How do I clean the Mignon XL, and what is the warranty?
Grind the chamber empty, lift off the hopper and brush out the chamber and chute regularly. Because grind size is set on the lower burr, Eureka says the burrs can be serviced without losing your setting. Check the warranty card in the box for cover: the XL is not on Eureka's list of Mignons with a 10-year motor warranty. You can also return it to us within 30 days.
