EUREKA
Quiet enough for an early start
Eureka's Silent Technology mounts the motor and burrs on an anti-vibration system, so the Specialita grinds noticeably more quietly than a conventional grinder. It is the point reviewers agree on most, and it matters in an open-plan kitchen or a flat where someone is still asleep. The ACE system also cuts clumping and static at the spout.
EUREKA
55mm flat burrs on a 310W motor
Hardened-steel flat burrs, larger than the 50mm sets in Eureka's entry Mignons, turn at 1,350rpm. Eureka rates them at 1.8–2.5g per second for espresso, so an 18g double takes roughly 7–10 seconds, and 2.5–3.5g per second at filter settings. Eureka puts burr life at around 300kg of coffee.
EUREKA
Two timed doses, hands free
Programme two doses on the touch display and fine-tune either in small steps, or switch to continuous grinding or Extra Dose for a top-up. Start grinding from the screen or the microswitch behind the fork. The height-adjustable fork holds most portafilters, so both hands stay free, and a counter tracks your doses.
EUREKA
A stepless dial on a 120mm footprint
Eureka's patented stepless system moves the lower burr, giving infinite settings for the small changes that matter when dialling in, and you can remove the burrs for cleaning without losing your setting. At 120mm wide and 350mm tall, the Specialita sits comfortably beside most home espresso machines.

Frequently asked questions
Is the Eureka Mignon Specialita good for filter coffee?
It can grind for filter: Eureka lists it as all-purpose and rates it at 2.5–3.5g per second at coarser settings. It is built and tuned around espresso, though, and most reviewers treat it as an espresso grinder. If pour-over, AeroPress or a cafetière is most of what you brew, an all-purpose grinder such as the Fellow Opus 2 will suit you better.
Eureka Mignon Specialita or Mignon XL: which should I choose?
Both are timed, hopper-fed Mignons with a touchscreen, stepless dial and 300g hopper. The XL steps up to 65mm burrs and a more powerful motor for faster grinding, and costs more. The Specialita's 55mm burrs grind a little more slowly but comfortably handle a few shots a day for one or two people, and it comes in far more finishes.
Does the Specialita grind by weight?
No. It doses by time: you set two programmable doses on the touchscreen and adjust them in small steps. Once your beans and grind are dialled in, timed doses are repeatable, but weigh occasionally as beans age. If you want the grinder to stop at an exact weight, the Eureka Mignon Stark W has a built-in scale.
Will the Specialita fit my portafilter?
Very likely. Eureka's hands-free fork adjusts for height and is designed to hold most portafilters, so you can grind straight into the basket with both hands free. Grinding starts from the touchscreen or a microswitch behind the fork. Eureka also sells a Mignon dosing funnel separately for tidier dosing.
How do I clean the Mignon Specialita?
Lift off the hopper and brush out the grinding chamber and spout regularly. For a deeper clean, the burrs come out without losing your grind setting, thanks to Eureka's stepless system, and Eureka publishes video guides for chute cleaning and burr replacement. Keep water away from the grinder; never rinse any part of it.
