How to brew
Made of ceramic or resin, the Origami Dripper has 20 deep vertical ribs that resemble folded paper. Those ridges create deep air channels for a fast, clean drawdown, and it accepts both conical V60 filters and flat-bottom wave filters — making it a genuinely versatile hybrid you can steer toward clarity or sweetness.
Step by step
- Choose your filter — a conical paper or a flat-bottom wave — and seat the dripper on its base plate.
- Rinse the paper thoroughly with hot water, add 15g of medium-fine coffee and level the bed.
- Bloom with 45g of water and swirl gently.
- Because drainage is fast, pour in 2–3 continuous spirals to keep the water level consistent, reaching 250g total and finishing around 2:15–2:45.
Filter choice changes the cup: a conical V60 filter flows faster for higher acidity, lighter body and floral clarity, while a Kalita wave filter slows things down for more sweetness, caramel body and balance.
Troubleshooting
- Sour or thin? Grind finer, brew hotter, or switch to a wave filter to slow the flow.
- Bitter or harsh? Grind coarser or cool the water slightly.
- Draining too fast and weak? Grind finer, pour more gently, or use a wave filter.
- Want more clarity? Use a conical V60 filter and grind slightly finer.
